As I was walking out of the mail room yesterday, having just received my long awaited package, a friend of mine asks what I had gotten. I candidly replied that it was a Nintendo DS Lite. She rolled her eyes and replied, “Aren’t you a little old for video games?” Later that night, I thought about it. Can you ever be too old for video games?

I thought about the experiences I’ve had with video games and age. I remember back to when I got my first Nintendo 64 console and played Super Mario 64. I was pretty sure I would wake up in the middle of the night and see my dad playing it. Surprisingly, he beat the game before either me or my siblings did. I continued my train of thought to include other adults. My uncle, who is married with three kids, is a somewhat avid Halo player. Other than that, I knew very few adults that played video games on a regular basis. I did, however, remember seeing a special on the news about the Wii console being used in nursing homes; and those people are pretty old!

So, I have come to the conclusion that no, you can’t be too old for video games. It’s just that sometimes life gets in the way of things. I’m sure that if they had the time and money, many adults (even older ones) would love to just sit around and play video games. But, hey, I could be wrong.

What do you guys think?
