President Obama made it clear on Wednesday during his State of the Union address that the United States will not accept second place. Keeping to that promise, President Obama announced on Thursday that the government will spend $8 million to invest in high speed rails in the country. “There is no reason why other countries can build high-speed rail lines and we can’t” (CNN.com).
Obama says that this project will spur economic growth and help job creation. He urges states to begin planning for the buying, building, and upgrading of rails, stations, and tunnels as to accommodate the new system.
I think we’re on the right “track.” Opinions?

Positive
California will see its first high speed railroad in just a few years. You will be able to go from Sacramento to LA in 2.5 hours instead of 7 hours
Negative
Won’t realy create many more jobs. An official rebuttal stated they would only accept highly SKILLED engineers to work on railroads, as it requires sensitivity to safety.
