New technology has recently allowed scientists to study cell membranes of fossils and have aided them in determining that the existence of feathered dinosaurs is a very real possibility. In fact, scientists now say that feathers evolved on dinosaurs before they evolved on birds. Maybe even more incredible is the fact that from this new technology, scientists can even determine the exact color that these feathers were.

Patrick Orr from Bristol University comments that, “If I had to explain it simply, I would say that we now have a basis for choosing a certain color if you were coloring in a dinosaur book” (CNN.com). The fossils that were studied were those of Sinosauropteryx and Sinornithosaurus, which were discovered in October 2009.
