So we all know that texting while driving is dangerous, but many overlook the fact that texting while walking may also be dangerous. A recent study by the New York Times says that: More »

From Htcyou: Yet another smashing overseas smartphone, the Acer Liquid was supposed to be the world’s first “Snapdragon” processor device, but its launch had been delayed until last week. The Liquid has quality specs and its black variant is now for sale in the UK, with most of western Europe, Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia also getting theirs sometime this year. I question just how well this phone will do since the technically more advanced Nexus One has made barely a ripple. More »

These days, there are just so many devices for people to carry around: a cell phone, an MP3 player, a laptop, and e-reader, etc. This is the price folks pay to stay connected. Whenever something comes along and combines multiple uses into one, I always take notice. To me, the current crop of e-readers are not alluring because they are so limited and cost nearly the price of a decent netbook. enTourage eDGe is introducing a promising product that is hard to define because it does so much. The company calls it the world’s first “Interactive Dualbook.” More »

From Htcyou: In a move that greatly dismays Microsoft, LG has announced that of the 20 phones it plans to introduce in 2010, a majority of them will be powered by Android, with only a few running Windows Mobile. In September, when LG launched its first Android phone, the Eve (Canadian exclusive), the company stated that it would release at least “13 new smartphones over the next 16 months that utilize Microsoft’s Windows Mobile.” More »

For the past decade, Google has been busy with its all-powerful search engine but has also made strategic acquisitions, such as buying out Android, Inc., which is the basis for the Android operating system. Google, entering markets filled with mega-corporations like Microsoft, Apple, and Nokia, has to climb steep mountains to stake its position in the communications and operating systems war. However, crashing the party late has its advantages too. For one thing, Google can learn from the mistakes and successes of rivals. More »

It seems that the hyped up Google Nexus One smartphone that was recently released is not receiving as much love as Google had expected. Customer complaints are starting to roll in about the inconsistent 3G connectivity, issues regarding the touch screen, and the poor customer service to deal with it all. The main root of the customer service issue has to do with the fact that the Nexus One can only be purchased through the Google online store and not at any T-Mobile retail locations. More »

Robots are usually cool for movies. Perhaps because androids remind us of ourselves in our capacity to create, or maybe we just love seeing metal blown to bits, but robots have been able to make us laugh, cry, and scream with excitement. Here are my favorite android/robot movies of all time. The criteria for this list are that the films must have been released in America, and the protagonists have to be robotic, or the plot must center around androids –therefore, Star Wars does not fit because R2D2 is not a main character, and robots are not the main theme of the series. Yesterday, January 15th, McDonald’s officially launched its free wireless internet service in 11,500 of its 14,000 stores nationwide. The big chain fast food company has slashed the original $2.95 fee for two hours of wi-fi service and is now offering it completely free of charge. More »

It is estimated that one in four teens text and talk on the phone while driving. Scary thought, isn’t it? Darcy Ahl thought so, too, after she witnessed her 16-year-old son trying to answer a phone call while driving. She has since then developed a phone app that may prevent thousands of cell phone related accidents each year. More »

The Google Android OS and I share one big thing in common: Dessert. I am, hands down a big fan of dessert. When it comes to nicknaming Android updates, Google feels the same way. So far in both alphabetical and chronological order there’s the Cupcake, Donut, Eclair and Flan. Out of sheer boredom and because I love both dessert and Android, I’ve taken on the task of listing out Android update nicknames that need to happen. More »
