It just seems as if more tablets are springing up after the iPad’s unveiling, but ExoPC’s Windows 7 Slate has been in development for awhile and unlike the iPad, it is a real computer.

Unfortunately, the ExoPC Slate is propelled by Intel’s first generation 1.6GHz N270 Atom, which has the horrible GMA950 graphics not even supported by Aero. The LCD is also low-resolution (1024 x 600) like 2009 netbooks, but at least there is multi-touch. The French company’s Slate is going to sell for $599, the same as the iPad. If ExoPC is serious about taking on Apple, that price has to come down. Even though the Slate has multitasking and Flash, not to mention more ports, its screen is far inferior, and that N270 (with the GMA950) is a weakling for powering a full OS like Windows 7; however, 2Gb RAM is sweet.
