Many, if not all of you have probably used Google Translator at some point in time. The more recent update to the translator has allowed for an almost instant text-to-text translation. Now, Google says it is working on phone software that will allow for speech-to-speech translation.

As mentioned above, Google has already got text-to-text language translation down pretty well. The search-engine giant also has speech-to-text technology as well. Google says it is working on combining these two innovations in order to create speech-to-speech translation.

Experts say, however, that there are still many barriers to cross before this concept comes into practical everyday use. Accents, pitch, speed, and dialects are things that need to be taken into account. Each individual has their own unique way of talking, and one of the main concerns is finding technology to be able to deal with the dynamic nature of human speech.

Google says that the technology, once available, will improve over time. The more data that the system collects about the nuances in peoples’ speech, the more effective and accurate the system will become.

What do you think? A plausible possibility?
