In a recent statement by Google co-founder Sergey Brin, it was said that the company remains “optimistic” in light of the recent hacking attempts at the Google network by a group from China. “I’m an optimist. I want to find a way to work within the Chinese system and provide more and better information…I think a lot of people think I’m naive, and that may be true.

Pulling out of China would result in notable losses for the search-engine giant, and Google is looking to compromise. Ideally, the company has expressed that they no longer will be willing to censor political searches. They will, however, agree to censoring offensive material such as pornography.

“Perhaps people don’t believe this, but throughout all of the discussions of entering China our focus has really been what’s best for the Chinese people…It’s not been about our revenue or profit or whatnot.”
