An Indian start-up company has set its cross-hairs on Apple’s iPad. The Notion Ink Adam tablet runs Android and has a multi-touch Pixel Qi display, which could equal Apple’s multi-touch technology.
The Adam was displayed last year, but up until today, its final design was still not in place. Notion Ink founder Rohan Shravan gave an interview in which he confirms that the Adam will look almost exactly like the prototype shown at CES (pictured above).
Notion Ink plans to release the Adam in two versions: the first one is a basic touchscreen, while the premium model has the desirable Pixel Qi multi-touch display; both will have duo-core ARM A-9 1GHz CPUs with nVidia’s Tegra 2 chip. In terms of hardware, the Adam has the iPad crushed except for the display, as Apple’s tablet has an IPS panel with more pixels and multi-touch standard –however, Notion Ink’s machine has substantially more powerful processors. Prices are supposed to start at $327 and go as high as $800 for a maxed out version.
A June release is the target.
