Telecommunication companies from around the world are teaming up to create a giant app store that will most likely rival the Apple app store. For now, they’re calling it the Wholesale Applications Community.
27 companies are behind this project, including AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and LG. Complaints have come in to Apple about the exclusiveness of the app store for the iPhone, and the aim of the Wholesale Applications Community is to make it so developers can create apps for all smart phones.
Apps are a new revolution in mobile technology and the company (or in this case companies) that can appeal to the largest market will come out on top. I, for one, am excited for this and look forward to being able to have the same apps as my iPhone-user friends.
