For a man whose company was absent from the Mobile World Congress, Steve Jobs still made headlines, as he was awarded the “Mobile Industry Personality of the Year” honor by a collection of media moguls at the Global Mobile Awards Ceremony in Barcelona.

Ironically, most of the products at MWC are aimed to take down the iPhone, for which Jobs has received deserved acclaim. Google CEO Eric Schmidt told the press that his company’s major focus going forwards will be mobile. Steve Jobs has been thinking along those lines for many years.
