While Rob Dyer at SCEA did not actually use the term “overpriced” to describe the PSPgo, he did admit that “the higher price point” of the unit compared to the regular PSP has not helped “matters any.” The PSPgo has been a sales dud, but Sony and its third party publishers have some triple A titles on schedule for this year in hopes of boosting sales.

Speaking with Industry Gamers, Dyer, VP of Publisher Relations at Sony, also said that the PSPgo confused gamers because of the machine’s radical change to the way that games are loaded and played. However, Sony is not giving up on the portable and reportedly plans to relaunch the system with a lower price.

With the annoyance of UMDs, I am not surprised that piracy has been a horrible blight for the PSP. I am skeptical that Sony can implement serious measures against it.

the DSiXL is only a tiny bit more than the DS they have at the moment and DSiXL sales have been eclipsing the pspgo’s. on the other hand, the pspgo costs more than aud$200 than the psp-3000, not helping sales at all.
