Straight from the science fiction of James Cameron’s Aliens comes Ideum’s touchscreen table computer, whose clients include NASA and top museums and aquariums.

With custom software, the Ideum MT-50 looks fun, but Windows XP is uncool. Also, 720p resolution is far too low for a 50″ screen. The powerful graphics and processor are a bit wasted on this computer, but they account for a low percentage of the overall bill of materials.

1280×720 High-definition resolution • Wide format Aspect ratio • DLP based projector system • Brightness 3000 ANSI lumens
• 3,000 hour bulb life (6,000 hours total, spare bulb included) • Three camera IR system with LED “Flood” Illumination • Optimized for 60 points of touch input
• Intel Quad Core (45 nm) 3GHz with 12MB L2 cache • GeForce GTX 285 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 • 4GB RAM DDR2 1100 • Dual 300 GB, SATA II 10,000 RPM HD in RAID 1 configuration for data redundancy
• Windows XP Operating System • Compact Micro ATX form factor
