These sales figures would have The Beatles in its heyday jealous. Despite the wide criticism that Vista received, consumer confidence in Microsoft has not dampened too much, as the Redmond behemoth’s follow-up operating system has sold over 90 million copies, most of which are to home users.
Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer, Peter Klein declared at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference in San Francisco that since launch on October 22nd 2009, Windows 7 has sold above 90 million units, making it the fastest selling OS of all time. Now, Microsoft is pushing its OS to businesses that were reluctant to make the switch to Vista years ago.
I would like to know how many of the 90 million were sold at heavy discounts through pre-order promotions, and how many were actual retail boxes, not OEM.
