Is this the end of the world as we know it? A German woman thought so. She tried to get a judge to stop the European Organization for Nuclear Research from using its Large Hadron Collider to mimic the conditions that proceeded The Big Bang. She failed.
The LHC resides inside a French-Swiss tunnel 16.8 miles long and was the topic of a recent Big Bang Theory episode on CBS. With the collider, scientists hope to discover “the ‘God Particle,’ which would explain how particles acquire mass.” Too bad the thing is unreliable and has had to be shut down numerous times, or else we might really see oblivion.

Isn’t this that thing people were worried about because there was a 1% chance that a black hole could’ve been formed, and we all would’ve died in a matter of milliseconds?
