At Game Developers Conference, Sony demonstrated its Nintendo Wii challenger, the Playstation Move controller, which is touted as much more accurate than the Wii nun-chuck and is targeted at hardcore rather than casual gamers. Sony says that the device will be out in the fall and should be in the $100 range for a full starter kit that includes the Eye camera and a game.

A lot of types of games are currently in development, from shooters, to action, to RPG, and social games. I am not sold on motion controllers for general gaming (great for Duck Hunt, not so much for real shooters), although Sony’s keynote does look smooth. To me, the Move is more of a specialized device for a very narrow genre of games, but the $100 price tag is easy on the wallet for those who already own a PS3.
