How would Nintendo’s humble plumber mascot feel about his console in bejeweled form for £300k? Mario Luigi would probably be tripping worse than when powered up on magic mushrooms.
The Nintendo Wii SUPREME holds the dubious distinction of being the most expensive console in the world. It takes 6 months to complete and is constructed of 2,500 grams (5.5 pounds) of 22 carat gold, with 78 diamonds at .25 carats each adorning the front buttons. Only three of these will be made, and at least one is still for sale according to the website. I suppose only one Queen of England can afford one. Prince Charles and the Sultan of Brunei are possibly not Wii gamers.
To be fair, the gold alone is worth $92,500 USD as of today. Mr. Hughes’ $320,066 Sony PS3 will be covered tomorrow.
