Coinciding with Earth Day, the North American release of Avatar is Thursday, April 22nd. A number of other countries will have their copies by the 21st. Unfortunately, there will not be any bonus material on the Blu-Ray or DVD discs.

Among the nations getting theirs a day in advance are France, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands. Some places will not see a release until later:
- UK: April 26
- Denmark: April 27
- Norway, Sweden, New Zealand: April 28
- Australia: April 29
- Finland: April 30
- Italy: May 6

The $2.6 billion grossing Avatar is being launched in 2D only. Expect a 3D version with deleted scenes, commentary, etc. in time for the holidays. This is probably a smart decision since so few people have 3D Blu-Ray players and TVs at the moment.
