During an online event, Microsoft discussed details about the upcoming SP1 (Service Pack) update for Windows 7 and R2 for Windows Server 2008.

Microsoft RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory virtualization features are being introduced for Windows Server 2008 R2, while SP1 receives only minor updates, including a new “Remote Desktop client that takes advantage of RemoteFX.”

Most of these updates mean little for consumers, and I agree with Microsoft’s recommendation on not waiting for SP1; just get Windows 7 now if you not among the 90 million already running it. WindowsITPro strongly suggests that SP1 is due out Q4 of this year, in time for Christmas.
