Not a hobbyist mod, but a cool computer case manufactured for sale by Cooler Master, the Volkswagen “Shag Wagon” computer case provides nostalgia and a hint of grooviness in an industry of bland black/gray designs.
I am more partial towards Antec, but this Cooler Master’s design is pretty nice. Its aluminum chasis has been custom painted in detail with quality paint and is even waxable. Easy, tool-less access to the insides is facilitated by two swinging doors that reveal the entire sides of the case. Since the Shag Wagon is a full-tower model, it has ample room for large fans (9 120mm fans!) and takes up to 9 5.25″ drives and SLI/Crossfire video cards. Cooler Master has discontinued this premium and whimsical case, so getting a new one may be difficult unless you act now.
