MSG Network dipped its foot into the 3D television pool and broadcast the first ever 3D NHL hockey game, but unfortunately, the battle was between two bottom-feeder teams, the New York Rangers and cross-town rivals, the Islanders.

The game was probably not worth watching for people who are not fans of either team. For example, American hockey fans with satellite had the option of viewing the premier Pittsburgh versus Washington game in 2D or the 3D telecast of a mediocre Rangers club clinging onto 10th place, and the weak Islanders struggling to maintain 14th (there are only 15 teams in their conference).

3ality Digital was responsible for the images, which were shot with 6 cameras. Many observers are reportedly happy with the picture quality.

I would rather just watch a sporting event in full, uncompressed 1080p, 3D or not.

@dandmb50 - Actually I put in the wrong link, here is the correct one.
Still Rangers did not or will not have the first ever 3D broadcast.

@dandmb50 - Nice try, New York Rangers but the Toronto Maple Leafs beat you to it when they broadcast the first ever 3D NHL game on CBC Saturday night in Toronto and broadcast across the country.
