An unboxing video is sure to sell a sexy product. Chicago Sun-Times had an early look at the iPad and came away extremely satisfied, calling it innovative and “one of the best computers ever,” even though it is not even a real computer.

The iPad has more limitations than netbooks (less storage, memory, speed, lower resolution screen, lack of ports, etc.), but the user experience has thrilled all of the early “professional” columnists. Always be wary of overly gushy reviews. No product is perfect, especially not a first generation one.

I agree with Andy Inhatko that unboxing videos and photos are strange phenomena in that they are so popular. Apple’s iPad packaging is standard minimalist and is healthier for the environment, even if the device itself is not!
