Denon is the mid-fi of audio and video, a notch above consumer grade stuff from Japanese companies but below boutique brands like Ayre and Krell. The $1,999referenceBlu-Ray player from Denon does not display 3D out of the box!

However, what the astutely named DBP-4010UDCI offers are the ability to play SACD and HDCD-encoded CD (presumably well), superior audio output, and slightly improved picture over an average $200 Blu-Ray player. As with most “better” pieces of electronics, the rest of your system has to be up to scratch. For example, you cannot expect $10,000 speakers to shine when playing back tunes from your iPod. Unless you have something like a Pioneer Kuro plasma HDTV and a matching amplifier (not your $200 home theater receiver) with speakers, do not apply for the DBP-4010UDCI.
