Although HP’s Slate has glaring shortcomings - 1024×600 screen, Atom processor - quite a few people have been looking forward to it as an iPad alternative. It now looks like HP is canceling the Windows 7 Slate and may forgo using Intel processors for all future tablets.
Techcrunch writes that “a source who’s been briefed on the matter” has informed the blog about HP’s decision. Apparently, HP was not satisfied with Windows 7 as a slate/tablet operating system and did not dig Intel’s power hungry chips. I agree completely. An HP Slate running webOS and being powered by an ARMv7 or faster CPU is a better product. Apple has proven that a phone OS is the way to go for these types of devices.
