Steve Ballmer is audacious and explosive, but did you know that he is also a prophet? He has made plenty of notable remarks over the years, especially pertaining to Apple. Here are my favorite 10 recent quotes from the Chief of Microsoft. More »

For the impatient, here is concise summary of all professional iPad reviews. No one went against the tide, as all reviewers gave Apple’s tablet high marks, despite its severe shortcomings. Andy Ihnatko’s Chicago Sun-Times review is particularly disturbing since he calls the iPad “one of the best computers ever” when it in fact is not even a computer. Apple does not even market it as a computer, but as “a whole new kind of device.” David Pogue’s New York Times article is by far the most intelligent and realistic. He offers two differing opinions of the iPad and is dead-on about the divide that exists between hardcore techies and the average consumer –the former camp being unimpressed with the iPad. All of these reviews are worth a laugh or two though. I find it hilarious that most of these writers readily admit that the iPad has a handful of awful flaws, yet they still give it near perfect ratings. More »

Probably bound for Nintendo’s 3DS, Sharp announced a new compact touchscreen that uses stereoscopic imagery for 3D but without the need of active shutters. The new technology is ridiculously bright at 500cd/m2 and uses “parallax barrier optimization” for the “best” 3D visuals seen with the naked eye. More »

Bearing FCC ID BCG-E2381A, the iPad’s internals are unremarkable, save for the clean layout common to all unibody Macs. The components inside are sourced from ubiquitous manufacturers Intel, Broadcom, Infineon, Toshiba, ARM, etc. The 9.7-inch IPS panel is from LG-Philips. More »

Cocoon’s Gramercy is an inexpensive $29.99 messenger bag that carries an iPad, an iPhone/iTouch, and a bag of chips. The pricier $54.99 Harlem messenger sling, with its water resistance, is for active users who want to move around with their iPad and a handful of other pocketable devices. More »

From Htcyou: Photographic evidence from MoDaCo informs us that the new HTC Legend and Desire smartphones have been rooted. Although few will want to tinker too much with HTC’s Sense UI and Android 2.1, having root access enables programmers to add and/or remove some elements to their liking, thus tuning their smartphones into fully customized machines. This photo does not do Apple justice because only two of the twelve “iPad-ready” websites are shown. You see, the iPad includes iPhone OS Safari, which supports “the latest web standards” like “HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.” Too bad for the iPad that there are hundreds of millions of computers in the world that are 99.99% internet-ready and also feature Safari, the full version.
