Samsung, one of the world’s biggest electronics manufacturers, is not idling while the computer industry rushes to produce tablets and slates for consumers. The codenamed “S-Pad” (how original) is a 7″ Super-AMOLED tablet that is going head-to-head against Apple’s iPad.

ET News‘ cover is hard to decipher, as Google’s translation is spotty (the article seems to state that Samsung will use a proprietary OS). From what I can gather, Samsung has confirmed that the 7″ Android tablet is scheduled for August, and that the South Korean company is making ease of use and app/book content the focal points. Major bookstore chain Kyobo and news publications are signing on to provide exclusive e-books and applications for the S-Pad.

Note: the headline picture is not a real rendering of the S-Pad.
