Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has revealed some stimulating details about the 3DS handheld. Also, Iwata is singling out Apple’s iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch platform as the “enemy of the future.”

Because the Wii and the DS have utterly demolished the PS3 and the PSP in sales, Iwata sees Sony as a beaten foe. Nintendo’s central concern is now Apple’s casual gaming devices like the iPad.

Regarding the 3DS, Iwata tells Forbes that the system will incorporate noticeably tighter anti-piracy measures than previous Nintendo machines (which, frankly, have always been jokes when it comes to copyright protection), and that most 3D games can be switched back to display traditional, non-3D images, so that people who have issues with viewing said screens can still appreciate the 3DS. The transformation of the Nintendo handheld to 3D could involve the use of higher end graphics from NVIDIA’s Tegra chip.
