Spreading the written word on as many devices as possible, Amazon is releasing a Kindle application for Google Android machines that run 1.6 Donut and above.

For US citizens, the Android app will grant access to over half a million e-books, but international users will have certain restrictions. “Kindle newspapers, magazines and blogs” will not be available on the Android version though.
Does Kindle availability on third-party gadgets and computers help Kindle hardware sales or hurt them? Would I really need a Kindle when I will be able to use most of its features on my MyTouch?
