Spoken of at CES, Foxconn’s 8.9″ tablet reference design is a serious iPad challenger from the company that ironically manufactures Apple’s tablet, along with the Mac Mini, iPhone, iPod Touch, and a host of other boards and parts! Using an NVIDIA Tegra 2, duo-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and 1Gb of memory, the prototype slate has a front-facing camera and two USB ports. More »

Before the company that actually designs and owns the product can even make an official announcement about it, everyone else has already had a say regarding the iPhone 4G/HD, which is definitely going to be shown at WWDC 10. Two Chinese manufacturers have made products for the unreleased phone: iridescent rubber/plastic cases and replacement front covers in black/white. Were these skins constructed long ago with information from Apple, or is this an example of how illegal leaks from Gizmodo and Tinhte can provide unauthorized profiteering off trade secrets? Regarding the front covers, they cannot be legal. More »

Last month, two iPod Touch 4G prototypes, with cameras, were auctioned on eBay. Today, nefarious Vietnamese blog Tinhte, which provided the iPhone 4G and MacBook leaks, has yet another prototype: an iPod Touch. More »

This 2 Megapixel USB Digital Microscope plugs into your computer by way of USB and can zoom in or out with 40x or 200x magnification. Using 8 LED lights to highlight the objects that you are shooting, the microscope can shoot images at 1600×1200, which can then be digitally magnified by “software up to 2460×2048 resolution.” Also, the microscope captures video at 30 FPS. An ultra-portable mobile PC, which we thought was a dead format, Viliv’s N5 makes me think of Sony’s overpriced P Series mini netbook but in an even tinier case and with a 4.8″ (1024×600) touchscreen. The N5 runs Windows 7 Starter, although the Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor will suffer as a result. More »

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Dan Schulman of Sprint has conceded what everyone knows, that the Palm Pre has failed to live up to expectations. Sprint CFO Robert Brust says that his company would “love” to carry the iPhone, but unfortunately, there is no contract in place to do so. Brust’s statement should dispel the notion that the 10 million CDMA iPhones that Apple has allegedly ordered are going anywhere near Sprint, yet Verizon iPhone rumors persist despite Ivan Seidenberg’s (Verizon CEO) statement that he did not know whether his company was getting the coveted phone. If the Chief of Verizon is unaware, how do these reporters know? More »

From Htcyou: The first commercial of the HTC Droid Incredible has its charms, as is usual for Verizon Android ads, but it omits showing the actual device itself. The new television spot showcases the phone but not until the very end and for only a glimpse. More »

Let us play a game: every Tuesday, we scour allover for the strangest looking gadgets, and then you guess wildly what they are. More than merely an LED flashlight, this gadget can be a practical tool for poor scientists, forensics wannabes, or perhaps people who pleasure in observing ant farms. More »
