From Htcyou: The grapevine buzz is that June 2nd or 16th is the release date, but the prices seem to be accurate. $399.99 hits the sweet spot for most consumers and is very competitive with what is out there currently; however, $150 with a 2-year contract is ridiculous when Best Buy is offering the Motorola Droid for $129.99 and Motorola Devour at $69.99 with new 24-month terms from Verizon. In a possible presentation with the American Heart Association, Nintendo could be holding an event on Monday to announce its Wii Vitality Sensor, which is an add-on device that attaches to the Wii-mote and monitors the player’s heart-rate. Nintendo showed the sensor last year and promoted it as a gadget that encourages casual play and tells gamers to slow down if the action becomes too intense. However, the sensor’s potential as exercise equipment is more compelling. More »

AMD’s 2.8GHz Thuban represents a bit of a touchstone in computer value. A 6-core CPU at $199? Take that, expensive Intel i7 processors with only 4-cores! In all seriousness, one should not be fooled by gigahertz or core numbers because performance is the sum of all parts working together. Find out if the $199 Thuban is too good to be true or too good for its price. More »

A top-of-the-line 64Gb 3G and Wi-Fi iPad from Colorware amounts to a $401 premium over the same machine from Apple; however, Colorware jazzes up the tablet from its uptight silver and makes the iPad’s exterior sparkle. The 16Gb 3G is $1030, 32Gb 3G $1130, 16Gb Wi-Fi $900, 32Gb Wi-Fi $1000, and the 64Gb Wi-Fi $1100. More »

Major UK carriers Orange and Vodafone are taking pre-orders for the Samsung Wave and will be stocking the smartphone by May 28th. On a 24-month term, starting at £25 monthly, the Wave, with Samsung’s proprietary Bada operating system and the allure of a Super-AMOLED display, is free. This is how contracts should be for all cell phones. More »

From Htcyou: Sprint has announced that the HTC Evo 4G is being packaged with an 8Gb microSD card in the pictured box. While 8 gigs may be insufficient for a select few buyers, most can live with it. At least Sprint has saved you $25 or whatever an 8Gb card goes for. By contrast, Verizon is giving out meager 2Gb cards (which is nearly useless) for a “limited time” with the Droid Incredible. Japanese cell phones have taken a backseat to Apple, Nokia, HTC, Motorola, and the South Korean duo of Samsung and LG. While Fujitsu’s F-04B smartphone possesses some really amazing features like a removable Bluetooth keypad and a video projector module (sold separately), front and rear (12.2-megapixel) cameras, and an ultra high-resolution 3.4″ S-IPS LCD at 480×960, the custom operating system is abominable. Facing pressure from various media outlets, the DA has unsealed the affidavit for the police raid on Gizmodo’s editor. The court documents reveal that Steve Jobs personally called the blog to “request” the phone back, that Apple instigated the police investigation, that Gizmodo permanently damaged the prototype when it tore the phone to pieces, and that the sellers allegedly knew what they were doing and attempted to hide their identities.
