Borderlands is a game that demands a pretty powerful PC and the abilities of the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 to run properly. However, OnLive shows what its cloud gaming service is capable of when it demoed the game running on Apple’s modestly spec’d iPad.

OnLive launches June 17th for $14.95 per month (games cost extra) and requires either a PC, Mac, or just a TV to work. OnLive supplies the controllers and hardware necessary to play games on its servers. Because the physical hardware responsible for operating the games are hosted at OnLive’s headquarters, subscribers do not need a powerful computer (or any computer at all) to play the most graphically advanced titles. Mass Effect 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2 are two featured games on the network.

Cloud gaming will become really popular in the future. Maybe there’ll only be one console??
