On April Fool’s Day, ThinkGeek owned us when it teased everyone with the fake iCade, which is an arcade cabinet into which an iPad slides. A Japanese gamers has constructed a rough prototype - from cardboard! - of the same concept. While the contraption looks unseemly, it demonstrates that ThinkGeek was onto something with the iCade.

I still wish that ThinkGeek would make it. Imagine the possibilities. Yes, the iPad can be a serviceable device for gaming, but with something like the iCade, Apple’s tablet could be transformed into a far more versatile gaming platform. Would you not love to play Playstation ROMs of Mortal Kombat III, Street Fighter Alpha, and other classics on a joystick?
