Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G launch was among the biggest in the carrier’s history. To add variety, Sprint is adding a QWERTY Android smartphone with WiMAX 4G enabled.

Android Community reports that the 4G Samsung Galaxy S Pro is basically a Galaxy S running Android 2.1 Eclair but with a 5-megapixel LED-flash camera, and a 5-row QWERTY keypad. It packs the same 4.1-inch Super-AMOLED (800×480) display and “Hummingbird” PowerVR SGX540 graphics and 1GHz ARM Cortex-8 processor. Android Community claims that Sprint is also receiving the Galaxy S in a 4G iteration, whereas the regular Galaxy S was sent through the FCC with AT&T bands, and a recent hands-on suggests that it is for T-Mobile. I suppose it makes sense for Samsung to release its most puissant smartphone to as many carriers as possible.
