Enjoy the nearly 10-minute length video teardown of Microsoft’s new shiny Xbox 360. A separate peek by Anandtech into the “Valhalla” motherboard confirms that the “Slim,” using a single chip to integrate graphics, CPU, and eDRAM onto one die, is noticeably quieter (thanks to the removal of one fan), cooler, and significantly more energy efficient than the “Jasper” boards that it replaces.

Since the Xbox cannot display red LEDs anymore, the dreaded “red ring of death” is gone for good, but the slimmed down internal design by Microsoft has hopefully solved overheating and other systemic failures. The Jasper and Falcon series have gone a long way in lowering Xbox meltdown rates, and Valhalla should be even more reliable.

Anandtech’s teardown can be read here.
