Smartbooks will try to intellectualize the dumb and slow netbook. Toshiba’s Android 2.1 powered AC100 is a 10.1-inch (1024×600) smartbook with a muscular NVIDIA Tegra 250, which is based off the duo 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor.
Japanese consumers can look for the AC100 in August for around $500. Sadly, NVIDIA’s Tegra is wasted on a screen with low-resolution, and the lack of touch for Android is a disappointment too. At $500, for my money, I would rather save over a hundred bucks and just get a larger AMD Neo netbook with a usable screen, such as the ASUS 1201T.
