Yesterday, the upcoming Android 2.1 QWERTY smartphone Motorola Charm showed up on an internal screen capture as listing for $269.99 outright and $74.99 with contract. The latter price made no sense to me. It seems like I had reason to be baffled because a new T-Mobile poster indicates that the Charm will be free with a 2-year term. More »

Boy Genius Report had little proof that the Steve Jobs e-mails, which it received from a source called “Tom” (now known to be Jason Burford), were real. E-mail headers can be faked easily, and before the blog was called out on sloppy journalism, after Apple PR had denied that e-mail exchange was genuine, BGR did not even bother to post photographs of the headers. Today, the site is uneqiuvocally stating that the e-mails are real, and that Apple PR has apparently lied to the public. More »

From Htcyou: The Motorola Charm (or Basil) is an intriguing smartphone because it is the only 4:3 aspect ratio Android unit with a full QWERTY keypad that is non-slide-out. Another reason why the 2.1 Eclair Charm could be interesting, especially to youths, is that it might be sold for an extremely low $269.99 outright. More »

Mobiado, from my own backyard of Vancouver, is not the one asking the question about its beautiful Classic 712EM cell phone –I am. Although technologically unremarkable, the 712EM’s charm is in its aesthetics and attention to detail, the finer qualities of life. The iPhone 4 looks shabby beside the Mobiado, which probably has few antenna issues too since Canadians, Americans, and everyone else can safely use it with a good GSM/WCDMA carrier. More »

Apple has officially acknowledged that there is a software (but not hardware) problem with the iPhone 4, whose bars representing signal strength are inaccurate. After extensive “retesting,” Apple has found that the antenna design is fundamentally sound, and that a mere software update will alleviate some of the problems that AT&T customers have been experiencing. Consumer Reports writes that there is “no reason, at least yet, to forgo buying an iPhone 4 over its reception concerns.” More »
