Plastiki, the brainchild of British adventurer and environmentalist David de Rothschild, is a floating vessel composed mainly of 12,000 2-liter plastic bottles. Its frame measures about 60 feet. The purpose of this journey was to test out new materials and to address the problem of ocean-borne plastic waste. And to stay true to their purpose, this vessel was made up of recycled materials, the ship’s frame was made up of recylable plastic as well as its mast and its sail was made from a recycled cloth.
