About a month ago I was lucky enough to get a free iPad. I know this is somewhat a crime to say, but I really haven’t been using it much other than to review apps that I get. I believe one of those apps (which I suspect to be We Rule) caused my iPad to inexplicably just turn off and won’t turn back on. In the past when this glitchiness happens, holding down the power button for 5 seconds fixes it for me. If that doesn’t work you can connect it to your iTunes computer and have it restore your iPad. Fixed yet? My problem was a bit more severe and required some extra effort to fix. Here’s the step-by-step:

1. Plug your iPad into your computer with iTunes. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. If iTunes sees it, then just do a restore and sync and that should be it.

2. If iTunes doesn’t see it, you need to hold down the power and the home button for about 10 secs. Then let go of the power button but continue to hold the home button for about 10 secs.

3. iTunes should see your iPad now and give you the restore ability.

Before the restore it might try to do a sync which adds a lot of time to this process if you have a lot of data to sync. Feel free to make a sandwich at this point.

You can re-download all your apps from the iTunes store again if it doesn’t appear after the restore. The saved data from apps will be restored as well! Even if the app isn’t in your iTunes download history, just buy it again. You’ll get a message saying that you already purchased it and confirm that you want to re-download. iTunes will proceed to download it, then you need to sync your iPad once more.

Hopefully this helps someone!

Awh thanks, I’ve had the same problem on my iPod Touch once and it was such a pain to redownload all the stuff back to it, which took me hours to do so ;/ Thanks for this

Oh woah - I’m glad that you found a fix [and one to share] that doesn’t involve having to go to the actual Apple store
pretty useful - thanks :]

I know quite a few people who could probably use this info.
Thanks Hoc.
