A solar toothbrush, Soladey-J3X, is being developed that promises it will get rid of any pesky plaque in your mouth. But the catch is - it doesn’t need any toothpaste to do so. It was developed by Dr. Kunio Komiyama at the University of Saskatchewan (in Canada). He ended up working with Japan’s Shiken to get the actual toothbrush manufactured.
The Soladey-J3X works with the solar panel on its base to send electrons up to the brush head via an led wire. Those electrons then react with the natural chemicals in your mouth to clear away the plaque and bacteria cells.
Currently, it is still in a testing phase and Komiyama and his team are actually looking for 120 teens to try out the toothpaste-less toothbrush to see if it can actually compare with the traditional method. It sounds like a pretty fun thing to test - since there wouldn’t really be any cons besides a cleaner mouth.
Though the only bad thing to say about the actual toothbrush would be that you would always need a light source for it to be functional. So it doesn’t work in the dark - but minimally, it needs about as much light as a solar calculator. (I wonder if a cell phone would work?)

solar calculators dont need that much light...the lights in the bathroom would work perfectly fine in that case
