At first I thought this advertisement for Google TV would be pretty normal… until the giant TV with hairy legs appeared! This is actually a Logitech Revue advertisement for the arrival of the first Google TV box which is coming this fall. I felt that this commercial was more about Internet safety than a TV until the ending, but this is suggesting that in fact the costumer should have a closer relationship with the TV as well as the Internet. If you’re someone like me then you might really dislike 3D glasses, but that might just be because I wear glasses. Luckily people in China in the the process of making a 3D glasses free tablet called the Supernova X1. The tablet was put on display by Rockchip. Nico Vega is one of the first bands to shoot a music video entirely on an iPhone 4. The band stopped by guitarist Rich Koehler’s hometown of Toledo and used Koehler’s niece, nephew, and neighbor to create a video for their single “Gravity.” The little rockers are totally working it! The NEC is currently working on some advanced face recognition technology that can detect human faces even after a large time gap in between or excessive weight gain (or loss). In a benchmark test, this technology passed with a whopping 92% accuracy from a 1.6 million person criminal database, and an even more amazing 95% accuracy from a 1.8 million person Visa applicant database. South Korean company LG has announced that it will produce a 19-inch flexible e-paper and also a 9.7-inch e-paper screen. The 19-inch flexible e-paper will have a thickness of 0.3 mm and will weigh a total of 130 grams. The 9.7-inch e-paper will feature a colour display and will be most likely aimed at next-generation e-book readers. The California legislature passed a bill earlier this month that makes it illegal to impersonate someone else online. State Senator Joe Simitian said that “In the age of the Internet, pretending to be someone else is as easy as using their name to create a new e-mail account. When that is done to cause harm, folks need a law on the books they can turn to,” he said. “New laws are needed to crack down on this form of harassment.” More »
