China has revealed it’s new supercomputer called the Tianhe-1A, which is 43% faster than any other supercomputer in history. China with Nvidia and Intel worked together in creating the supercomputer. The Tianhe-1A was developed at China’s National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), and is fully operational.

The supercomputer runs about 2.507 petaflops, a petaflop is a thousand teraflops, or a thousand trillion floating point operations a second. The Tianhe-1A specs are 7,168 NVIDIA Tesla M2050 GPUs and 14,336 Intel Xeon CPUs consuming 4.04 megawatts.

With these incredible machines being created by man, we can be sure that scientist and researchers can use these technologies to help expand human knowledge and reach areas we never thought possible.

Also, while the world may say China currently has the worlds fastest supercomputer, I personally believe that the US has the worlds fastest supercomputer and is hiding it from the world. Its like keeping the best card for last. Why show the world what treasures you have, when its better to keep your treasures hidden.
