Looks like Microsoft didn’t get the result they were hoping for after spending over $100 million for advertising the launch of their Windows Phone 7. According to report by The Street the total sales accumulated from AT&T and T-Mobile were just about 40,000 units and that doesn’t include the nearly 90,000 phones given to the Microsoft employees.

If we would compare it to other smartphones performance on their opening day that’s so low, where did Microsoft go wrong? Did they have limited units to sell or more users are still tied to their contracts with other providers?

They have just started and there’s still more to come so we’ll have to wait a little more before judging the fate of Windows Phone 7.
