Director of the ever popular Lord of the Ring series, Peter Jackson, will be using thirty RED EPIC cameras to film The Hobbit 3D. Fancy, huh? In fact, these are hand-machined cameras. Talk about hard work. I love the Lord of the Rings - I’ll definitely be looking forward to this film! This little tibbet of news came straight from RED founder, Jim Jannard. So this isn’t just a rumor. He’s actually filming this all by hand with RED EPIC cameras. And that’s not all! More »

The only use I could think of for pigeons, you know - those dirty, fat rats with wings, is using them as carrier pigeons, but I’m not sure that actually exists in real life. What does exist now though, are pellets that turn pigeon poo into detergent. Amazing what science can do right? More »

From Rekuru: Japan loves robots. Robots seem to be the “next hot technological thing” in Japan, doesn’t it? Gemini F acted in a very short play called Sayonara - she was controlled by a team of people off-stage, and on stage, she was with an actress who commented that her acting was a little stiff. And there seemed to be a distance between her and the robot; it doesn’t really seem like there is a human presence there, which is why critics would say she is not the best of actresses. More »

The government can cross suicide bombers off their list of worries now that a modified radar gun has been created to identify suicide bombs hidden under clothing from up to 10 meters away. It works by recognizing the most common arrangements of wires used in bombs and has worked approximately 85% of the times it was tested. Of course, a ten meter radius means it would have been completely useless in 9/11, but with progress perhaps a radar gun that identifies suicide bombers from hundreds of meters away could be invented.
