Sony has always been a company that has provided some of the latest and greatest in technology. With the Apple corporation and Microsoft looming in the world, however, Sony is feeling the pressure, and, in an attempt to compete in the music market, Sony has just launched its new music streaming program: Qriocity.
The yearly subscription program just made its debut in the U.K. and Ireland and will be coming to other parts of the world, including the U.S., next year. Qriocity is a music streaming program that can be accessed from a wide range of Sony products with internet access, such as personal computers, laptops, Bravia televisions and Playstation 3 consoles. As of now, portable Sony devices, like the Walkman, will not have access to Qriocity, but it is speculated that a portable version will be debuting sometime next year.
Being a music streaming program, users will be unable to download the songs but will have unlimited access to a collection of over six million tracks. In addition, users will also be able to stream videos and movies.
With a large Sony product user distribution all around the world, the company is expecting that Qriocity will be a deal-maker for both current and new Sony users.
