Sure, you might know the name of Mark Zuckerberg, the man credited with founding Facebook, but his friend, Chris Hughes, also had a role to play in the success of this now international social media phenomenon. Hughes is also credited for founding My.BarackObama.com, which is what many believe to be one of the main factors that influenced the youth vote in the 2008 election. Well, Mr. Hughes, now at the age of twenty-seven, is taking another stride in his life… by getting engaged!

According to Chris’ five year partner, Sean Eldrige, “We were in Thailand in a hotel room in the north. We were delayed after two days in the snowstorm and Chris got down on one knee and proposed. It was very traditional and very sweet.” Hughes Tweeted happily on Saturday morning that, “My partner Sean Eldridge and I got engaged a couple weeks ago! We’re excited (apparently this is newsworthy http://bit.ly/gfCw5g ).”

Eldrige, who is the political director for Freedom to Marry, has stated that he and his partner would like to wait until gay marriage is legal in New York. Still, they aren’t waiting forever and plan to wed in “the next year or two for sure.”
