With all these new iDevices coming out, CDs seem to be becoming more and more obsolete. Which then makes the CD less popular. Sony just announced the closure of their New Jersey manufacture CD plant, Pitman NJ CD. The closure will result in over 300 layoffs. That’s a lot of people losing their jobs. Tennessee School in Knoxville have required iPad devices for all students at 4th to 12th grade. It’s technology director Jim Manikais described that it is designed to allow the students to “use that technology whenever they need it”. For parents of students at the school who cannot purchase an iPad, a rental package has been put in place for $200 per academic year or $20 per month over twelve academic months. More »
