South Carolina is currently considering to make smuggling phones to prisons a crime, as some inmates routinely update their Facebook status from the inside. Wendell Gilliard, a Democrat from Charleston, proposed the law that would add 30 days to a prisoner’s sentence if he is caught interacting on social networking sites via cell phone. It would also be illegal for anyone to set up a prisoner.
Crime victims would worry when they see a prisoner’s Facebook page and they can also feel threatened, as prisoners could coordinate criminal activity online. Prisoners could send out coded messages through social networking sites. Some prisons have already started setting up system that would capture every cell phone signal and block unauthorized calls, such as in California and Mississippi. Such a program is currently in the works in South California as well.

lmao OTL WHY!
Facebook isn’t a necessity to live and they could plan an escape through it lmao
Thanks for sharing. So weird :/
Lol, are people really that desperate to go onto Facebook?

haha, that is somewhat amusing. Wow, keep a tighter watch on those phones! I think a) it is dangerous; b) it does give insight to their lives in prison.
