A patent recently filed by Apple hints that they might be working on a 3G MacBook which has an inbuilt, adjustable 3G wireless antenna. Users would be able to use wireless internet just like on the iPhone or iPad. Apparently the antenna sits on a hinge so users can adjust it to the optimal point of reception and it is also attached by magnets, making it come off easily when knocked or bumped. More »

It was just on Tuesday at the CTIA Wireless 2011 show, that LG announced their recent product, which is a “new inductive charging system” titled as their Wireless Charging Pad. If you’re familiar with the Powermat, this device by LG is not much different. It’s described as a small flat pad which you can plug into a power outlet. To charge your phone you simply place your wireless device on top of the pad without needing to connect any wires to your device. More »


Mozilla recently announced that the final version of its Firefox 4 Web browser has been released and is now available for download. In just 24 hours, the browser reached over 6 million downloads. It is quite an achievement, compared to Microsoft’s latest Internet Explorer 9 release, which had about 2.35 million downloads in its first 24 hours. An unnamed handset manufacturer has apparently been exploring the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology for their next Windows Phone 7 device. This technology hasn’t been that popular globally, but since some Nokia phones and the Samsung Nexus S came with it last year, it has been slowly gaining more attention. To an email asking whether Apple is looking to discontinue the iPod classic back in September, CEO Steve Jobs responded that they have no plans to. The iPod classic is the direct descendant of the original iPod introduced nearly ten years ago. Last September Apple introduced new iPod models except the iPod classic and it has also not been updated since September 2009, so the question arose whether it won’t even be available anymore. While many saw this as a valuable effort, there were those that saw this as a threat to their own businesses and proceeded to file a lawsuit against Google. Microsoft has been filing lawsuits against Barnes & Noble, Foxconn, and Inventec for patent infringement. Now it’s Apple’s turn to add to the lawsuit fire. On March 18th, Apple officially commanded a stop to Amazon’s utilizing of the words “App Store,” claiming that there was a trademark infringement and unfair competition caused by this. Seeking unspecified damages, Apple has also requested that the courts forbid Amazon from working with the words “App Store” from now on. More »


From Wirebot: So Zong is an interesting concept of billing. For instance, when you buy something on the PSN (DLCs, games, movies) your credit/debit card is usually billed. If you don’t have a credit card, for instance, for a World of Warcraft account, you can buy a pre-paid card (like the 2 months pass) for the payment. But Zong is going to redirect that purchase. They’re thinking, instead of billing it to your card, it’ll be directed to your mobile phone carrier. More »
