South Carolina is currently considering to make smuggling phones to prisons a crime, as some inmates routinely update their Facebook status from the inside. Wendell Gilliard, a Democrat from Charleston, proposed the law that would add 30 days to a prisoner’s sentence if he is caught interacting on social networking sites via cell phone.
