Apple has recently sued Samsung for allegedly copying the feel of Apple’s devices from products such as the Galaxy S, Nexus S and Epic 4G smartphone, as well as the Galaxy Tab touchscreen tablet.

“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,” the complaint reads.

The rivalry between Samsung and Apple is pretty complex because Apple gets all of their parts from Samsung-Samsung builds the custom chips used by Apple in devices like the iPhone and iPad, and also supplies flash memory and liquid crystal displays- and is their largest customer yet. A reported $7.8 billion purchases from Samsung have been planned for 2011 alone for Apple.

This is very similar to a lawsuit just a year ago with HTC, where Apple stated that some of the HTC products were very alike 20 or so Apple products. They had then stated: “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

Apple is also currently suing, and being sued from Nokia, another one of their big competitors. I wonder who’s going to be broke by the end of all this legal warfare.

yeah i read this in another article and how samsung is counter sueing apple. wonder how things will work out. i am pretty positive this will take awhile

Not another design dispute. I hope the issue gets resolved soon. Since Apple gets a lot of their parts from Samsung isn’t expected that the phones would have some similarities. Thanks for sharing!
