After being in the spotlight for having a phone that looked almost exactly like an iPhone, Meizu’s head Jack Wong said that he was planning to expand into the US, and would most likely set up an office in California. He also stated that he was planning on selling phones like the M9 or MX in the US.

This move is terribly risky as it could cause an immediate lawsuit coming from Apple since they have already argued that Meizu’s M8 and other devices have copied the iPhone’s look and feel. M8 phone sales were temporarily frozen until a patent technicality ultimately voided Apple’s claims. Apple has yet to make any claims against the M9 yet, but moving to America might just invite a lawsuit like the one currently going on with Samsung.

Although the M9 has been part of Meizu’s more original designs, it seems to be that there are still many similarties between the M9 and the iPhone. We’ll just have to wait and see if Apple will indeed take legal action.

hmm it does look like an iphone. but if that is all that is similar between the m9/mx with the iphones, i dont see why they shouldnt be allow to sell the phones here in the US
